18 Months and Nanny and Pappa visited!

I turned one and a half years old on April 4th! Nanny and Pappa came out to visit on April 29th through May 9th. It was great having them here to play with me. We went to the National Cathedral in DC, Jefferson's Monticello, Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, and the original Jamestown settlement. Personally, it was a bit too much history for me, but I wasn't driving (except for that one time when Dad let me drive). We were all sad to see Nanny and Pappa go. I waved bye bye to them at the airport as they walked away into the terminal.

Saturday was a recovery day for all of us. We relaxed, talked, read, and even
did a bit of gardening, then we went to Old Town Alexandria for dinner.

We walked along the streets and went to the pier.

We had burgers and a chocolate shake at a little restaurant.

On Sunday, we drove to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello in Charlottesville, VA.

then we took the guided tour through his house.

On Monday we went to the National Cathedral, then prepared to leave to Williamsburg, VA.

We arrived in the morning and had the pace to ourselves

We drove to Williamsburg on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

When we arrived in Williamsburg, we stopped and ate at Applebee's.
It was there that I discovered my new love for ranch dressing.

Both Mom and Dad and Nanny and Pappa had a hot wings appetizer that came with a dish of ranch.
I ate both dishes of ranch and nothing else.

From there it was off to Colonial Williamsburg

It rained the next monring. We decided to travel 20 miles down to Hampton, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach. On our way home, we stopped to see Yorktown and the Yorktown battle field of the revolutionary war.

The next day, we went to Jamestown.

 Jamestowne is the site of the first permanent English settlement in America.

We then traveled up the road to the Jamestown Settlement Museum.

I liked the armor the best.

Pappa showed me how it was done

We walked around the museums, a recreated settlement, and the ships.

It was a long day, but well worth it.

At one of the musuems I fell and smacked a bench and got a black eye.

I was so tired I slept in Daddy's arms and on the bench at the restaruant.

DING! I'm done...

The next day we drove back to our home in Alexandria.

We stopped along the way to see the colonial plantations of the region.
